How Power Quality logging and first-principles nodal analysis identified critical equipment placement and configuration errors that standard commissioning missed.

At this site, we identified that the incorrect sizing of the generator caused equipment to faulting and shutting down. This led to delays in site commissioning and additional unbudgeted mitigation equipment. Engineers now have to work around an already sunk cost of ~$1million AUD in the generator alone.

The electrical operation of a solar cell is described, highlighting the origins of the I-V and P-V curves. The work reveals that an illuminated solar cell should always be kept loaded at the maximum power point, so that: (i) maximum power is extracted from the cell; and (ii) to minimise internal power dissipation, otherwise an increased heating of the cell and faster degradation
